“The government’s lifting of the national State of Emergency wasa hugely positive step forward in Japan’s efforts to tackle thecoronavirus pandemic, however we know that those working within themedical sector still remain at risk,” said UPS Japan President,Daryl Tay.

Dr. Namiki Izumi, Director of Japanese Red Cross MusashinoHospital, added, “We have a critical responsibility to preventinfections in hospitals and it’s extremely important for us to havea system in place to help us do so; but we continue to facechallenges in securing protective equipment.
“Even when the number of patients decreases, we need to beprepared for any recurring outbreaks and we’re grateful for thisgenerous donation from UPS as we continue our battle against thispandemic.”
Besides supplying its employees with PPE, UPS has moved to reducethe risk of spreading the infection by regularly advising staff onhow to minimize exposure to the virus including through thepractice of social distancing, providing the necessary supplies ofPPE and implementing a contactless delivery experience bytemporarily suspending requirements for customers to sign forpackages.
